Reclaiming old mirrors and painting into them

I am continuing to work with my reclaimed mirror. I painted in the new Guv'rnor (Decca Heggie), who is a fighter from Carlisle. He fought and won the Guv'rnor title on Sunday night at the Grand in Clapham. This is to show my esteem to the man who won this title.

As you can see first thing on Monday morning I took a picture of the mirror.

I started to paint into the mirror, trying to get my skin tones right and the proportions of the body of Decca who supports a beard and moustache. I have researched another artist called Michelangelo Pistoletto, who paints ordinary people life size on mirrors, so when you walked into the exhibition you became part of the show.

From the one above, I made his head larger and I painted a vibrant red for the background. This is to show the aggression in the image. I wanted to experiment so I got an old picture frame from a skip and placed it onto the piece of art in different positions. When I got to the right position I painted it blue.

I got the glue gun and put the mirror into position and decided to paint the outside of the wood frame white. Then I decided to put lightning strikes coming out of the wooden frame.
