Adolf Wolfli was a damaged individual. His complicated family life had an impact on him, making him a violent individual. He was committed to a Mental Asylum where he began to draw spontaneously, as a form of therapy. He drew every day until he died, and never harmed again.
As a prolific artist, he produced graphic compositions made up with collages, writing and musical notation. He created figures surrounded by masks and brightly coloured shapes. His art was considered to be L'art Brut. (https://www.artbrut.ch/en_GB/author/woelfli-adolf).
