Cubism

Cubism first began in 1907-08 when Pablo Picasso and George Braque came together in relation to their works of art. Many works appeared fragmented and abstracted and focused on portraits of disfigured imagery and illusion. It was as though objects had been broken down and presented in a three dimensional form (http://www.tate.org.uk/art/art-terms/c/cubism).

It is about painting things from different perspectives, which is what you can see in Picasso and Braque's work.

In this piece by Picasso you can see the distortion and disfigurement that he has used.

Testa di donna con cappello blu e nastro rosso,1939.

My take on cubism
