I quite enjoyed the Critical Evaluation. I'm feeling more confident in my art work, talking more and researching different artists including Tony Mayo, who is a Canadian Artist. He does a lot of sculptures of heads. I was influenced by this work and used a similar technique for my sculpture of Charlie Bronson; he is a man who has been in prison for over 43 years. I felt this was a true likeness of Charlie Bronson.

Another artist I researched was Gerhard Richer; he is a German artist who paints on mirrors. I was interested in one of his pieces called The Corner Mirror. The installation was a brown mirror and adjacent to it was a blue mirror. This piece inspired me to make a 3 way mirror into an installation using an image of Charles Bronson, which I painted directly onto the front mirror. Then I used the 2 side mirrors to transfer the image to the side mirrors. I challenged myself further by transferring the images from the side mirrors back into the middle mirror, which gave a distorted view of Charles Bronson, in which I wanted to represent his now distorted view of life, as a result of having been incarcerated for over 43years. I feel this was captured well and I got the results that I had hoped for.

I also researched another artist called Michaelangelo Pistoletto who paints life size images of ordinary people. When you walked into the exhibition you became part of the show. In the future this research will be useful as I hope to reproduce something similar.

Another artist who I researched was Ai Weiwei from China, who was sent to prison for fraud. He reinacted the image as one of his works. This inspired me to make prison doors individually. The one below is acrylics on a reclaimed canvas showing Salvador Dali and Charlie Bronson. My intention for the piece was to show the danger behind the prison door, and I achieved this by using the colour red.

Through researching these artists, I have been inspired intro different directions and have achieved more goals.
