Once a week, we have a crit (critical evaluation) of students' work. On the Thursday, the group came to my prison cell and I had to explain different part of the cell to them.

In the backgroung you can see a prisoner climbing in through the prison bars. I asked the students to interpret what they thought it meant. Most of them thought he was escaping. I explained the narrative of the whole idea, which was that the prisoner was not escaping but was climbing back in because he had become institionalised through being in prison for such a long time.

I asked individuals to try on the prison suit that I had bought so that they were part of the installation , thus becoming an interactive installation.

The group gave me very good feedback. They all left their remarks, either in English or in their own language, on the prison walls. Many of them said that it had encouraged them to try different things and come out of their comfort zone. Completing this installation, made me realise that I have grown throughout my time at university. Whilst on my journey, I have learnt how to design, sculpt, stage make, as well as paint and draw; all gratitude to the University of Sunderland who have encouraged me, and given me the tools and the support to go on from strength to strength.
